North East Property Forum Newsletter
Welcome to the first newsletter for 2011.
We got the year off to a great start by having Kevin Green as our Special Guest Speaker in January. He got everyone who was there to see him motivated and inspired to make 2011 a great year.
More recently, interest rates have been held again this month, but it's reported that 2 members of the Board of the Bank of England wanted to increase it by 0.25%. That was before the announcement earlier this week that inflation is now at 4% - double the Bank of England's target.
It looks likely then, that we will soon be seeing an increase in the base rate, and the beginning of the end of the great rates, which have been boosting our cashflow! So, if you have been putting it off - NOW really is the time to look at how you can bolster yourself aginst that, either by reducing costs, or increasing income.
On the subject of Banks, I found these couple of quotations I thought you might like:
"Banks will lend you money if you can prove you don't need it."
"A banker is a fellow who lends you his umbrella when the sun is shining and wants it back the minute it begins to rain."
Both of these from Mark Twain (1835-1910) - so nothing much has changed in the last 100 or so years then :-)

NLA North East Branch Meeting - Monday 28 February, 2pm
Newcastle City Council Article 4 Powers and Selective Licensing
The NLA locally has arranged a special meeting at the Civic Centre, Barras Bridge, Newcastle upon Tyne on behalf of members who either have or are thinking about buying property in Newcastle.
The planned measures mean that landlords will need to apply for planning permission to let property to 3 or more people sharing, where the property was not previously rented by 3 or more individuals.
