Interest Rates Stay Unchanged At 5.75%

UK rates stay unchanged at 5.75%

The Bank of England has kept UK interest rates unchanged at 5.75% for the fourth month in a row in a widely expected move.

With oil prices close to $100 a barrel, it is thought inflation risks would have determined the Bank's decision.

Inflation has taken a backseat lately, as the Bank has focused on the fallout from the troubled financial markets, but has now again become a factor.

UK rates have been on hold since July, when they rose to 5.75% from 5.5%.
