Homeowners looking to improve the value of their property should consider insulating their home, the National Home Improvement Council (NHIC) has said.
Earlier this week a study from Halifax revealed that almost two thirds of homeowners were eager to implement environmentally friendly features in their homes, perhaps with a view to boosting house prices.
NHIC has said that while changes involving the likes of solar panels and wind turbines are valuable, simpler extensions can often save more money.
"Insulation has probably the best payback factor of all, because you not only save on the energy it helps you save, but you also increase the value of the property– because that's what people are looking for these days, a well insulated house," commented Andrew Leech, NHIC technical consultant.
"You have to have your home up to a certain standard of insulation, and if you don't, when it comes to selling the place you're going to lose out," Mr Leech added.
